Linthicum, MD ( Arundel.news & AAFA) - Here are the updates from Anne Arundel County Police on several recent crimes, including a frightening attempted abduction outside a hotel close to BWI Airport.  Read about how the victim was able to avoid being kidnapped as two armed men took off with her car and phone from the Anne Arundel County Police below: 

The two traffic stops listed allowed police to get two loaded handguns off our streets. 

Northern District
Citizen Robbery; Attempted Abduction / Linthicum
On April 17, 2021 at approximately 11:30 p.m. officers responded for a robbery of a citizen in the parking lot of the Marriott Courtyard located at 1671 West Nursery Road in Linthicum. The adult female victim was retrieving items from her vehicle when two unknown black male suspects exited a dark colored sedan that had pulled up next to hers. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded the victim’s money, cards and car keys. One suspect grabbed the victim by her shirt and told her she was coming with them. The victim was able to break free and run back into the hotel. The suspects fled with the victim’s cell phones. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.  Northern District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6135 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
Eastern District
Weapons Violation / Glen Burnie  
On April 18, 2021 at approximately 9:10 p.m. Eastern District officers conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Oak Manor Road on a 2002 gold Chevrolet Malibu for not having a functioning tag light. During the traffic stop the driver voluntarily handed the officer a Crown Royal bag. Inside the bag officers located a loaded Taurus semi-automatic handgun. The driver was prohibited from possessing a firearm and was arrested and charged.

Southern District
Weapons Violation (Arrest) / Davidsonville
On April 16, 2021 at approximately 8:50 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop of a blue Honda Civic in the area of Route 50 and Davidsonville Road in Davidsonville. Upon approaching the vehicle the officer noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The investigation led to a search of the vehicle resulting in the seizure of a loaded Polymer 80 .357 caliber handgun found under the driver’s seat. The driver was arrested and charged.
