Structural damage from a fallen tree

CROFTON, MD - A woman is dead and her family is in shock after a tree fell on their Crofton home, destroying a second floor bedroom. It happened Tuesday night (2/22/22), around 9 P.M. Rescue units were dispatched to the 1500 block of Farlow Ave. As crews investigated the situation family members reported a missing female, last seen in the bedroom that was struck by the tree.

It took thirty-five personnel 15 minutes to make access to the victim, who was found trapped under the tree. According to Battalion Chief Russ Davies of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, after access was made to the victim, it took an additional one hour and forty-five minutes to complete the rescue. Unfortunately the unidentified victim did not survive the incident and was declared dead at the scene.

Units from Annapolis City, BWI Fire & Rescue, Prince George's County, AACoPD and crisis management teams assisted with the incident.
